As many of you know, BGB is Interbrand’s biggest annual release, and this year marks a milestone—25 years of valuing the world’s leading companies, as well as 15 years since we became the first to be certified under the brand valuation standard (ISO 10668).

BGB 2024 is stronger than ever, with over 125,000 data points analyzed across our three key brand valuation pillars. Our Brand Economics team has worked hard to bring you the iconic BGB rankings we eagerly anticipate each year.

But what exactly are these three pillars, and how do we measure something as intangible as “Brand Value”?

1. Financial Performance: This analysis serves as the foundation of our brand valuation. We assess the company’s economic profit based on publicly available data, determining how much of that profit is attributable to the brand itself.

   
   

2. Brand Strength™: Our proprietary framework evaluates both internal (e.g., direction, alignment) and external (e.g., engagement, trust) factors to measure how effectively the brand is managed.

   
   

3. Role of Brand™: This metric quantifies how much influence the brand has on consumer purchasing decisions, highlighting the brand’s power in the market.

In addition to the usual rankings and data, this year’s report dives deeper into how brands build desire. It’s no longer enough to rely on customers' needs—brands must now focus on creating a desire for their products. Once reserved for luxury brands, this mindset is becoming essential across all industries, with larger brands increasingly shifting their focus from competing in industries to dominating broader arenas.
