Hi everyone,
I firstly want to apologize for abandoning this project for as long as I have. It’s been an intense last couple of months, and I have been focusing a lot on my studies and my work at Interbrand.
Even though I’ve been really focused, I feel like I've lost some momentum. Over the last 6 months, I have decided to tighten my approach to my professional life and focus on quality of projects instead of quantity. This has led to better work both academically and professionally but has made it easier to feel trapped in my ”Core responsibilities”. What I miss the most about being involved in a lot of different projects is that I could take a break from one project while working on another.
That said, I think I am taking the right approach, as the Spanish saying says: “Quien mucho abarca poco aprieta” (Jack of all trades, a master of none) you can’t expect to do everything and be great at it. I am proud to say I now have a clear direction of who I want to be.
I want to become someone who understands business processes and adapts existing and emerging technologies to optimize them. Whether it be internally or externally as a consultant, I want to be able to combine my interest in the corporate world with my technical skills. I think having a role like that will enable me to become a Master at optimizing processes and transforming companies while keeping that general understanding of how different businesses operate.
This will probably mean I need to start off by focusing more on building a stronger technical background and then transitioning into a more project management/leader of a group of technical people, who I can understand and guide to solve different companies’ problems.
But don’t worryyyy, the entrepreneurial, risk-taker side of the Spanish Golfer isn’t gone! I still am extremely interested in building something from the floor up while creating a positive impact in the world. The only thing I have realized is that I can learn a lot more from working for bigger more established companies. For example, most of what I know from the corporate world has come from having the chance to work with great team leaders at Interbrand who have shown me what it takes to run a business that creates so much impact in other companies.
I don’t know when the right timing to make that switch will be, but what I do know is that my priority at the moment is to finish my degree and focus on developing my professional skills as much as I can so that I can be the best at what I do.
Until then I will keep you updated in the most consistent way possible and I will try to avoid excuses at all times.
See you soon,
Fer
